9.00am Depart York
Begin your day by visiting the market town of Thirsk, Home of James Herriot.

9.30 am Arrive at Thirsk
Visit The World of James Herriot Museum in Thirsk to learn more about the vet’s life and experiences. The museum opens at 9.30 am. Tickets can be purchased for £8.50* for an adult. Suggested time 60-90 minutes (Tickets not included in the day trip)

10.30 am Leave Thirsk

Once you are ready to leave Thirsk, we will head to Grassington, a 1-hour drive.

11.30 am Arrive at Grassington

Walk around the village known as Darrowby in the TV adaptation of All Creatures Great & Small. See exteriors used in the show, The Devonshire Arms pub (Drovers Arms), The Stripey Badger Bookshop (G F Endleby Grocers), etc. Consider having a traditional pub lunch before moving on.

2 pm Leave Grassington

Take a scenic drive through the Yorkshire Dales as we head to our next stop. 

3 pm Arrive at Hawes
Stroll around Hawes, a charming market town in the Dales, and visit the Dales Countryside Museum or explore the Wensleydale Creamery and taste some delicious Wensleydale cheese. A must for Wallace & Gromit fans!

4 pm Begin returning towards York

As we begin heading back to York, there is still plenty to see along the way. Perhaps stop by Askrigg, Aysgarth Falls, or the picturesque villages of Masham, Middleham, and Bolton Castle.

6 pm Arrive back in York
